Dynamic QR codes — change the destination after printing

A dynamic QR code separates the print from the destination. The grid encodes a short URL that never changes; where that URL sends people is a setting you edit — so the code on ten thousand boxes can point somewhere new this afternoon, and nobody reprints a thing.

That separation is the entire product. Everything else here — scheduling, device routing, scan caps, passcodes, analytics — rides on the fact that a scan passes through a redirect we can consult, instead of jumping straight to a fixed address.

Repointing takes effect on the next scan

Change the destination and the edge cache for that code is purged immediately — the next person to scan gets the new address, worldwide. There is no propagation day, because a customer checking their own change five seconds later is the scan we optimise for.

Built not to go dark

Redirects are answered from Cloudflare's edge by a service measured in kilobytes, with the database consulted beside it — and every uncertain state resolves in the scanner's favour: a slow lookup delegates to a fallback rather than refusing. A database blip makes a scan slower, never dead.

A history you can audit

Every repoint is recorded — where the code used to go, where it goes now, when, and by whom. When a printed campaign spans years and teams, 'what did this code point at in March' has an answer.

Questions

Is a dynamic code slower to scan than a static one?

The camera reads both instantly; a dynamic code then makes one redirect hop, answered from the edge server nearest the scanner — typically imperceptible. What you gain for it is the ability to change your mind after the ink dries.

What happens to my codes if I stop paying?

The honest answer: dynamic redirects are a service, and a lapsed subscription eventually stops resolving them — your data and artwork stay downloadable. Static codes are unaffected forever, which is why we recommend them for anything that must outlive every vendor, including us.
