PIXELQODE vs Uniqode
Uniqode — formerly Beaconstac — is one of the most complete enterprise QR platforms there is, and if you're evaluating them you're taking this purchase seriously. This page is our side of that evaluation, written the way we'd want a competitor to write about us: their strengths stated fairly, our differences stated concretely, and the pricing caveat stated plainly — their tiers change, so verify on their site.
The short version: Uniqode is built for large organisations that want an integration surface — APIs, CRM connections, SSO. We're built for teams that print at volume and want the fundamentals — unmetered scans, included seats, a branded domain that doesn't require an enterprise contract — with unusual transparency about how the system works.
Where Uniqode is strong
Credit where due — Uniqode earns its enterprise position:
- A real API and integration catalogue (CRMs, webhooks, Zapier-class connections) — we don't offer a public API yet, and we won't advertise one until it exists.
- Enterprise identity features on their top tier: SSO, Microsoft Entra ID integration, security reviews at scale.
- Adjacent products beyond QR — digital business cards, forms and lead capture — if you want one vendor for all of it.
Scans are never metered
Uniqode's entry tiers cap scan volume; our plans never do, on any tier. A poster that goes viral costs you nothing extra and never stops resolving for being popular.
Monthly billing exists
Uniqode's published QR plans bill annually only — the monthly figure assumes a year paid up front. Ours bill monthly or annually (annual takes two months off), which matters when you're validating whether QR belongs in your stack at all.
The branded domain doesn't need a sales call
At the time of checking, a custom domain enters Uniqode's lineup as an option around their $99 tier, with white-label positioned in their custom-priced Business+ conversation. Ours is self-serve on Business at $199/month: add a CNAME and two TXT records, live in minutes.
Privacy you can quote to a DPO
We store no IP addresses — not anonymised, not truncated: none, with no column to put one in. Unique visitors are a one-way daily digest. If your privacy review asks where scanner PII lives, our answer is one word.
Print-first engineering
Our short URLs are deliberately one character under a QR version boundary so every printed module is 14% larger; all 37 design styles are machine-decode-verified before shipping. This is the unglamorous work a print-heavy deployment actually depends on.
Choose Uniqode if…
- You need API access, CRM integrations or SSO today
- Digital business cards or lead-capture forms are part of the same purchase
- You're standing up a multi-org enterprise programme with a success manager
Choose PIXELQODE if…
- You print at volume and want scans unmetered on every tier
- You want a branded domain at $199/month, self-serve, without annual lock-in
- Team seats included from $49, and a privacy answer that's one word long
Questions to ask any QR vendor — with our answers on record
Are scans metered?
Never, on any plan. A successful campaign should never be the thing that breaks your code or your budget — we meter how many dynamic codes you hold, not how well they perform.
What happens to live codes if I cancel?
Static codes keep working forever — they never depended on us. Dynamic redirects eventually stop resolving on a lapsed account, your data and artwork stay downloadable throughout, and on request we produce a continuity file mapping every printed URL to its destination so another provider can take over. Ask every vendor this question; the answers differ more than the pricing does.
Do you store scanners' IP addresses?
No — there is no column to put one in. Location is resolved at the network edge and discarded; unique visitors are counted with a one-way daily digest. Most analytics-heavy platforms cannot answer this question with 'zero'.
What does a team seat cost?
Nothing per seat — team roles (admin, editor, view-only) are included from the Scale plan at $49/month.
Which tier gets a branded domain?
Business, at $199/month — with monthly billing available, not annual-only. Codes print as qr.yourbrand.com, and the domain stays at your registrar.
Uniqode features and pricing are described from their public materials as checked in August 2026; tiers and limits change often, so verify current details on their site.
